  David J. Meixelsperger David J. Meixelsperger, 80, of Plain, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024. Dave was born on November 30, 1943, the son of John “Jack” and Celia (Alt) Meixelsperger. At a young age, Dave acquired a strong work ethic. He hauled milk, then built silos for Indiana Silo Company. When his dad was injured in a farming accident, he returned to take over for him. On June 10, 1967, Dave married the former Darlene Johnson. Together they had five children and were fourth generation dairy farmers on the Meixelsperger Family Farm. He also owned and operated River Valley Rock & Lime with his brother-in-law Jerry Johnson. Dave was in the National Guard and a member of Plain American Legion Post #398. Dave was a devoted husband for 56 years and a loving dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. He enjoyed gardening, canning, hunting, making wine, cooking, traveling with Darlene across the country, making his own bologna and summer sausage, watching the Green Bay Packers, playing poker, and spending time with his family. He was the best “storyteller” you ever met and had the contagious Meixelsperger belly laugh. In his later years, he loved being a Walmart greeter (if you know, you know). Dave is survived by his wife; daughter Doreen (Curt) Laack, son Dean; grandchildren Kristina (Carson McCauley), Curtis (Briana Crull), and Walker (Skylar Dodge); great-granddaughters Cheyenne and Kingsley; brother John (Josie); brothers-in-law Felix Ring, Tommy (Luci) Johnson; sisters-in-law Dorothy Bowell, Delores Gruber, Alner Pletzer, Carol Nachreiner, JoAnn Hill, Pearl Meixelsperger, Carol Meixelsperger; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Dave was preceded in death by his infant daughters Tina and Dawn, son Davey; parents; father and mother-in-law; brothers Ralph, Rich and Bob; sisters Millie and Alice; and several brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2023, at 2 p.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain with burial in the church cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Plain American Legion Post #398.  Visitation will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church on Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of Mass at 2 p.m. Online condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com.  The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green is assisting the family with the arrangements.
