Vern P. Demers Vern P. Demers, age 77 of Spring Green, and formerly of Rice Lake, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Greenway Manor Nursing Home in Spring Green following an illness.  He was born on December 21, 1946, in Rice Lake the son of Luvern and Alice (Jacobson) Demers.  He was married on June 3, 1967, to the former Lyla L. Tribovich.  Vern worked from 1966 to 1980 for Holsum Bakery as a driver, salesman and supervisor.  He then worked from 1980 to 1992 as general manager for Ladysmith Ford. He then was a sales manager at a Ford dealership in Rice Lake.  Vern also worked as a manager at Cenex in Rice Lake.   In 2004, Vern and Lyla moved to Spring Green and Vern worked as a manager at PDQ food stores until his retirement.  Vern was elected to the Spring Green Village Board three terms, served on the Spring Green Library Board, Sauk County Housing Authority, ADRC of Sauk County, TCC of Sauk County and was a representative on the Sauk County Board.  Survivors include his wife, Lyla Demers of Spring Green; a son, Christopher Demers of Cazenovia; a daughter, Michelle (Kevin) Thier of Spring Green; three grandchildren, Denae, Bryce and Jackson Their; other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Luvern and Alice Demers.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green.  Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Rice Lake at a later date.  Online condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com.  The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green is assisting the family with the arrangements.
