Phyllis Elaine (Hale) Feiner Phyllis Elaine (Hale) Feiner ascended to heaven on February 3, 2024. In just 43 days, she would have celebrated her 100th birthday. Born in Spring Green on March 16, 1924, to George Dewey Hale and Vera (Schroeder) Hale, she soon moved to Wisconsin Dells. At the age of 7, she and her sister, Lorayne, entertained during the depression as the Hale Sisters. They tap danced, sang, played Hawaiian guitars, and performed acrobatics at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells and the surrounding area. They sang on live radio broadcasts from Portage. Their act prompted an offer from a talent scout to move to California for a chance at national fame, but they chose to remain in Wisconsin. They eventually performed in a dance band. Phyllis graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1942 and worked on the rocket line at The Badger Ordinance Works until World War II ended. She married Felix Joseph Feiner in 1946 and they took over the family farm on Horseshoe Road just north of Spring Green and raised eight children. The octagon barn on the farm was restored and is now hosting weddings and other events. When Felix retired from farming, they moved into the Village of Spring Green. As a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Phyllis sang in the choir for many years, was in the Women’s Auxiliary, volunteered to supervise students during recess at St. John’s School, and helped out at the local library. She also served as secretary of the local chapter of the National Farmer’s Organization. Her passion for birds led to work with Bluebird preservation and her gardening skills beautified both the farm and her home in Spring Green where she hosted a yearly garden party for her many friends and relatives. Phyllis was preceded in death by her sister, Lorayne (Hale) Holtz; husband Felix; and daughters Barbara Van Slyke and Patricia McDougal. She is survived by six children, John (Marla) Feiner, Victoria (Kenneth) Horn, Doug (Jayne Schwartz) Feiner, Judi Feiner, Georgia Reynolds, and Mary Jo Abell; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green with burial in the church cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. and again on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John’s Catholic Church.  Online condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com  The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
