Wisconsin Heights Board doesn’t want to micromanage planning process for new building

“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.” “Let’s let it play out.” Those were the words of Gary Damaschke at the Wisconsin Heights December 21 meeting on the topic of how involved the board should get when it came to design for the renovated and expanded building. With six meetings planned in he next few weeks with Performance Services, the company in charge of the design and building of the expanded campus, the board tried to strike a balance with their involvement. Board member Barb Statz wanted to more involvement initially, but agreed with Damaschke. The next few meetings, as well as the coming months, will dictate that exact design of the new building. Two people spoke about the need for a new auditorium. One, representing the Drama Club, expressed concern about the potential plan for a renovated auditorium, citing the disrepair present and the costs. She said it would be wiser to build a new auditorium. The District is planning some changes to how instruction will happen. Starting January 25, a hybrid 3rd to 5th grade instructional model will begin. They are also looking to mid-February to expand in-person instruction. All these changes depend on several factors, including case counts. In addition, it will take several weeks from a decision to actually enact a new instructional model.
