Six months in: Sauk Prairie School District reviews schooling during a pandemic

The Sauk Prairie School District reviewed six months of teaching through the pandemic at their meeting last week. Highlights include: “Classroom instruction, summer school, student activities, and community education programs occurred on-campus 97.27% of weekdays since July 6th. The District average attendance rate in our hybrid model is 93.7% in 2020-21 compared to 94.5% for the same time period in 2019-20. Participation in extra-curricular activities remained at or above previous levels.” “Students were provided both in-person and virtual options grades 4K-12. Approximately 18% of students participated in our opt-in virtual programming.” “Safety protocols kept our schools open even when COVID-19 cases spiked in our region. 158 in-person students and staff tested positive for COVID-19 since July 6th. An average of 1.85 close contacts were identified with each positive case. Low close contact numbers were the result of sustained social distancing.” “Students did a phenomenal job respecting protocols and being safe. District staff creatively collaborated to reimagine education. Families supported students learning at-home and kept ill kids out of school. Community partners shared a message of safety and advised the District on public health best practices. Together, we continue to keep our students safe, connected, and learning.”
