Heights chooses insurance

The Wisconsin Heights School Board wrestled last week with the thorny but all-to-common decision of changing health care plans for their employees. Staying with their current plan would cost $210,000, while the new plans would wind up with a net difference of zero. Several employees at last week’s meeting and the meeting before spoke during public comment, urging the District to stay with the current plan. The board had gone through presentations at two consecutive meetings about insurance plans. The takeaway was simple: keep the current plan, and find $210,000 from the current budget to pay for it; or switch to a new HMO plan with a higher deductible and health savings account. The District chose the latter. This was new board member Angela Wolf’s first meeting.
