Wisconsin Heights FFA members go to National Convention in Indianapolis

By Keera Payne, Wisconsin Heights FFA Reporter   During the last week of October, 12 Wisconsin Heights FFA members attended the National FFA Convention held in Indianapolis, Indiana. While traveling down to the convention the members got to stop at a few great tourist places. The group toured Albanese Candy Factory, Fair Oaks Pig Farm, and MacFarlane Pheasant Inc,. All of these tours were such a great opportunity to start the week off. While at the National FFA Convention, students attended many inspirational workshops, walked through the career show which exposed the members to many businesses, universities, and trade schools in the agricultural industry. The group also attended three of the main sessions that were held at Lucas Oil Stadium. The sessions all had wonderful motivational speakers including Courtenay Dehoff. This tough lady cowgirl had inspirational advice about the diversity and inclusivity of the FFA. The Heights group also had a chance to see the National FFA Officers give their retiring addresses and watch the National FFA Band and Choir perform. Other highlights from the trip include; attending the Brett Young concert, Dave & Busters, walking through the FFA Hall of States, and meeting many new people from all over the United States. The group also witnessed the World’s Toughest Rodeo. There, they experienced the rowdy and competitive nature of bull and bronc riding. This trip was filled with really great opportunities, and it is something the members will never forget.
