Bridges raises $37,000 for climbing wall

Students at Bridges Elementary in the Sauk Prairie School District have been busy lately, all working towards a common, tangible, goal. It would have been easy to miss the official action on their goal at last Monday’s school board meeting because it was just part of a routine meeting.  But it must have meant everything to those kids. Buried at the end of the agenda for the meeting was a donation to Bridges, from the Bridges Bolt run held earlier this spring, in the amount of $23,874.13. In fact, the students and families there raised just over $37,000, according to Jamie Breunig, Principal of Bridges Elementary.  “It was an amazing event!” she said.  “The money was raised by both business sponsors and personal donations,” and “we are using the money raised to purchase a climbing wall for the gym and are pricing out a few other items that we can also get because the total was a lot more than we initially planned for.  Like I said, an amazing event and amazing support from the community, families and friends.” The Bridges Bolt was an even where students could get sponsored for a certain distance they ran. Teachers and staff made a whole day of if, kicking off an event for the kids. The total amounts raised were: $7,350 donations made by Corporate and local businesses, $29,904 donations made by families and friends of Bridges students.
