Sauk Prairie students compete in Math 24

Fourth and fifth  graders from Grand Avenue School and Merrimac Community School competed at the Regional  Math 24 Tournament, which was held on March 7 in Wisconsin Dells. All of the participants represented Sauk Prairie well, and Jack Bromley came away with a third place finish out of all of the fifth grade competitors.  The game of Math 24 was invented by Robert Sun in 1988 as a way to teach children the relationship between numbers.  The game consists of cards with wheels of numbers on them.  The goal is to add, subtract, multiply, and divide the numbers (using each only once) to get a total of 24.    Team members were chaperoned by Julie Breunig, Sauk Prairie Schools Gifted/Talented Specialist and Kathy Bruno, Gifted/Talented Support.  Sauk Prairie High School Juniors, Chase Kruchten and Logan Magnuson accompanied the group and helped to proctor the event.  Pictured are the team members, proctors, and bronze medalist, Jack Bromley .
