Thomas J. Breunig
Sauk City--Thomas J. Breunig, age 69, of Sauk City, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at home with his family at his side. He was born in Prairie du Sac, WI, on October 22, 1956, to Sylvester and Dorothy (Lins) Breunig.
Tom graduated from Sauk Prairie High School in 1975 and had two children, Tracy and Jeffrey Breunig, during his first marriage. He was united in marriage on September 27, 1996, to Kathleen Hartmann and gained four more children, Kerri, Kurt, Ali and BJ Chrisler. Tom farmed from 1985 until 2017 in the Township of Honey Creek and worked for the Sauk Prairie School District from 2015 until retirement in 2023.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; his children, Jeff (Corrie) Breunig, Kerri (Nathan) Lintl, Kurt Chrisler, Ali (Jonathan Parnes) Chrisler and BJ Chrisler; his grandchildren, Hunter, Jenna and Jason Joseph; Kinzie and Griffin Lintl; Madelyn and Emmalyn Chrisler; and Miles and Lilah Parnes; his siblings and their families, Gerry (Kathy) Breunig, Kathy Sliffe, Louise Frosch, Ralph (Barb) Breunig, Ken Breunig, Marcie (Bill) Baures, Randy Breunig, Phil (Theresa) Breunig, Eric Breunig, Nick (Mary) Breunig, Brian (Tracy) Breunig, Dan (Kay) Breunig, David Breunig and Kris (Steve) Haag; and in-laws and their families, David Hartmann, Tom (Barb) Hartmann and Roberta (Kevin) Lemanski. Preceding Tom in death are his daughter, Tracy Joseph; his parents; and in-laws, David Frosch, Larry Sliffe, Vicki Breunig, Clifford and Dona Jean Hartmann, Lori Hartmann and Terry Hartmann.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at ST. ALOYSIUS CHURCH, 115 Madison St., Sauk City, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Burial followed at St. Aloysius Cemetery. A luncheon followed burial at the Sauk Prairie Community Center. A visitation was held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
