Janet Ann Laukant

Janet Ann Laukant
Janet Ann Laukant, aged 81, of Rock Springs, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the Sauk County Health Care Center, after a 10 year battle with dementia.
Janet was born in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, on July 5, 1944, the oldest child of Victor and Frieda (Schlieckau) Lucht. She grew up on the family farm near Leland. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Leland. She attended Edgewood one room school through 6th grade, then Tower Rock school, and graduated from Sauk Prairie High School in 1962. She met Marvin Laukant at a wedding dance at the Rock Springs Community Center and they were married on April 27, 1963 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Leland.
They purchased a farm in rural Rock Springs and shared that way of life with their children. Everyone learned a strong work ethic, a love for animals, and how to live off the land. Janet enjoyed cooking, using the preserved food that was prepared each summer. She was proud of her baking skills with her French Cream and Cocoa Chiffon cakes, looking forward to the friendly competition each August at the Zion Lutheran Stone Church Ice Cream Social. Her mother and grandmother were seamstresses and she followed them with a love of sewing and passed that on to her children. She made many pieces of clothing, quilts, and doll clothes for her family and enjoyed sharing items made with her embroidery machine. She also enjoyed traveling, visiting Canada, Germany, Alaska and other US locations with family and friends.
Janet is survived by her husband Marvin; her children, Cindy (Robert) Kissack, Nancy (Jonathon) Williams, John (Joanna) Laukant, and Charles (Anna) Laukant. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Quincy Kissack, Emily Kissack, Jamie Kissack, Bailey Kissack, Abigail Williams, Ryan Williams, Connor Laukant, Ava Laukant, AJ Laukant, Wyatt Laukant, Hannah Mara, and Jason Laukant. She is also survived by her sisters, Betty Schwartz and Susan Bennett; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a given granddaughter, Autumn Cole.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor Lucht and Frieda Lucht Craker.
Special thanks to Agrace Hospice and Sauk County Health Care Center for the care they provided.
