Judith “Judy” P. Sliter, was born on July 18th, 1939, to Henry and Ethel Nelson, one of 12 children. On October 4, 1958 she married Thomas (Bill) Sliter in a Lutheran church in Spring Green. She entered eternal life on October 15, 2025, surrounded by family. A private funeral service will be held for immediate family on Thursday, October 23rd at Hooverson Funeral Home followed by private graveside burial per her specific wishes. Luncheon for friends and relative at Event Hall at The Gym in Sauk City starting at Noon.
Judy was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Everyone referred to her as “Granny” and she will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and open door for family to always pop-in to visit. She worked side-by-side with Bill on their family farms from 1962 until 1985 along with raising her family. After selling their farm near Blackhawk, Judy worked for the Sauk Prairie School system for 18 years doing laundry and enjoyed all the players and teachers that would stop in to visit. Judy and Bill had many wonderful trips with her sister and brother-in-law, Lizzie and Harry Pulvermacher. She also looked forward to her afternoon adventures with Sister Shirley Flint.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Thomas (Sandra) Sliter, Ryan (Ashley) and Rachel Sliter; John (Jackie) Sliter, Derek and Dustin “Chuck”; children of Debbie and Mike Paulus – Pat (Dana) Paulus, Dave Paulus, Sara (Josh) Ary, Ashley (Chad) Noel, Jessie (Flood) Paulus; Jeff (Melodie) Sliter, T.J. “Tim” (Becca), Alex (Kayla), Dan (Lauren). Great grandchildren: Callie & Isla Sliter; Kennedy & Eddie Paulus; Hannah and Madilynn Paulus; Coy Thomas Ary and Carson Ary; Avery, Kiley & Brody Noel; Lane, Hazel & Finley Sliter; Kayden Sliter; Ellie Mae Sliter. Sibling Shirley Flint. Sister in-laws Patsy Laufenberg and Barbara Nelson. Along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Thomas (Bill) Sliter of 62 years on January 24, 2021 and daughter Debbie Paulus on May 10, 2012; parents Henry and Ethel Nelson; in-laws Raleigh and Ruth Sliter; siblings Bill, Herb, Harold, John and Edward Nelson & Wilma Anderson, Marion Strait, Maxine Ellefson, Lizzie Pulvermacher and Daisy Leykauk as well as other brother and sister in-laws.
Her children, grandchildren and especially great-grandchildren were the light of her life. In 2005 she and Bill were recognized for being the most devoted high school baseball fans, as they never missed a game.
Our heartfelt thanks to everyone at Agrace Hospice for their compassionate care; especially Kevin and Carla along with all others that graciously cared for her and allowed her to be in her home.
