Ellen Jane Hamlin

Ellen Jane Hamlin, age 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Sauk Prairie Healthcare. She was born on September 19, 1930, in Elmhurst, Illinois, to the late William and Ellen (Reisenhus) Diedrichs. On October 23, 1948, she was united in marriage to Donald M. Hamlin.

Ellen was employed by Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital from the 1980s through her retirement. Outside of her career, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, cooking, and baking. She was also a devoted and active member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Her presence radiated kindness and nurturing care to all who knew her.

She is survived by her three daughters: Catherine (Larry) Self, Jane (Leroy) Hamlin, and Michele (Shane) Tammi; five grandchildren: Jessica (Scott) Frey, Jamie (Daniel) Brice, Aaron (Ashley) Pickarts, Joshua Tammi, and Shantele (Scott) Zasada; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her parents and siblings, Harold and Arlene. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and her sons, Michael and Curtis.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. hooversonfuneralhomes
