Alice E. Hamburg

Alice E. Hamburg, age 91 of Reedsburg passed away Wednesday August 20, 2025 at the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center. Alice was born November 19, 1933 to Otto and Martha (Rose) Halvensleben. On August 11, 1956 she married Charles B. Hamburg.

Alice oversaw the Celebrity Club at The Reedsburg Bank for many years. Alice was a faithful and active member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Reedsburg. She also was a part of the Altar Guild, LWML, Orphan Grain Train and quilting for the needy, Bible Classes and other church committees. Alice was a member of the Reedsburg Country Club where she enjoyed golfing and playing Bridge. She also loved baking and cooking. 

She is survived by her nephews Rolland Schmidt and Richard Hamburg; niece Sharon George; nephew in law Gene Hackbarth; great niece Rebecca McDonough and her children Ashley & Aaron; great nephew Donald Hackbarth; great niece Ruthann (John) Breitwisch and their son Peter; and Goddaughter Peggy Pieper.

She is preceded in death by her husband Charlie; her sister Lorraine (Wilbert) Schmidt; brother Donald Halvensleben; brother and sister in law Willis (Dorothy) Hamburg; and special niece Lois Hackbarth.

A Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Crolius and Pastor Kevin Kohnke officiating. Visitation will be held at 10 A.M. until the time of service at church on Thursday. Interment will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made out to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for Scholarship funds, Youth Ministry, or St. Peter’s School Library fund.
