Obituary: Darlene Barreau Connors Limbrunner
Darlene Barreau Connors Limbrunner was born on November 14, 1935 in the Township of Ironton to Clara (Tourdot) and Louie Barreau. She was one of seven children. She went to a one room school, grades 1-8, and went to Reedsburg High School, graduating in 1953. Following graduation she got a job at Hankscraft in Reedsburg, and worked in the workforce for 62 years of her life. Of those years she worked at Hankscraft in Reedsburg, Ray O Vac in Wonewoc, Badger Ammunition Plant, Gerber, and Lands’ End in Reedsburg. Darlene was married in 1955 and blessed with five children. This marriage ended in 1968.
Darlene moved to the Cazenovia area raising her children. Gerald “Skip” and Rita Connors gave her a strip on their farm for a garden. She enjoyed gardening, preserving food, sewing, and playing cards with her twin sisters.
Later she met Josef Limbrunner, a barber who worked in downtown Chicago, and were married in 1989. They moved to the Town of Dell Prairie in Adams County and continued her life there. She had a garden, and enjoyed making sourdough bread, and making salsa with her grandchildren. Darlene and Josef traveled to Germany, took a train ride to Switzerland, and visiting family who lived in the same place.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Fearing; parents; grandparents; brothers, Eugene and Louis Barreau; sister, Judy Lund; and her husband Josef in 2012.
Darlene is survived by her children, William “Bill” and Mary Connors, Dennis “Fred” and Terri Connors, John “JC” and Marcia Connors, and Rita and Pat Merrick; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Steve Fearing; twin sisters Shirley Elliot and Marge Lambert; along with other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Darlene took place Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 11:30 am at Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg. Visitation was on Wednesday, at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 11:15. Burial will take place at a later date.
Farber Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
