Obituary: Eber D. Janzen

Eber D. Janzen, age 93, of Farmington, MN.,formerly of Reedsburg, WI., passed away on Monday, September 23 at Southdale Hospital, Edina, MN. Eber was born in Reedsburg on June 8, 1931, the only child of Louis and Martha (Beckman) Janzen. He graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1949. Served in the US Army during the Korean War with the 304th Signal Battalion from 1951 to 1953 and was awarded 2 Bronze Stars. Eber was employed at Gerber in Reedsburg for 30 years as a mainframe computer operator. Eber never met a stranger. He would start a conversation with anyone he met and always had a joke to tell them. He was also good at writing poems and had just finished writing a book of them. He loved “Shark Tank” and would watch every episode he could. Also loved his iPad on which he would do puzzles while he watched TV. He married Helen Mueller on July 31, 1954, she passed away May 13, 2000.They had 5 children, James (Mary) Janzen of Waterloo, WI, JoAnne (Tony) Kavcich of Oxford, WI, Janice (Mike) Schraufnagel of Verona, WI, Julie (Jeff) Anderson of Cottage Grove,WI and Jerome Janzen of Reedsburg, WI. He married Geraldine Luedtke on June 14, 2005 and gained 2 step children: Michael (Nancy), of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Kristin Iverson of Farmington, Minnesota.
Eber is survived by his wife Geri, his children and stepchildren along with 10 grandchildren: Joseph, Matthew and Gregory Janzen, Bradley Watson, Anthony Kavcich, Donald, Louis and Grace Schraufnagel, Xena Zupan and Valerie Kirkeby along with 8 great grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday October 2, 2024 from 5-7 PM at White Funeral Home, 901 Third St., Farmington, MN. The funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM in Reedsburg,WI on Friday October 4 at Sacred Heart Church, with visitation 1 hour before the service. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Reedsburg. White Funeral Home is assisting the family.
