Obituary: Richard C. Kelsey

Richard C. Kelsey age 81 of Loganville passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the Orchard Manor in Lancaster, WI following an extended illness. He was born on August 7, 1942 in Marinette, WI the son of Clarence and Louise (Johnson) Kelsey. Richard graduated from Carl Sandberg High School in Orland Park, IL in June of 1959. He served 6 years in the United States Naval Reserves from 1959-1965 and was active duty 1960-1962. Richard was married to the former Carolyn Mercer. He was a longtime member of the International Operating Engineers Local 150 in Chicago, IL when he specialized in crane operation both in Chicagoland and Tucson, AZ areas. He also worked in the construction of water reservoir tanks in the Tucson area. In retirement Richard spent many years wintering at his self-built home in Tucson, AZ where he enjoyed using his woodworking skills. His home exhibited many furnishings which he had created. Summers were spent in Loganville/Reedsburg area on his 200 acre farm. Richard had a love of animals, especially dogs and love of the land. Survivors include a brother, Joel (Nancy) Kelsey; a sister, Claudia (Jerry) Berres; a granddaughter, Megan Colon; 2 daughters-in-law, Terri Lopez and Laura Gant; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Louise Kelsey; his wife, Carolyn Kelsey; 2 sons, Richard and Randy Kelsey and a grandson, Joshua Raymond Kelsey. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at the Stafford Funeral Home in Richland Center from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Graveside rites will take place at the Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette, WI at a later date by the Local Veterans Memorial Honors Unit. Online condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com .
