Michael W. Greaney

Cross Plains--Michael W. Greaney, 67, of Cross Plains, Wis., passed away on April 27, 2024, after an acute illness. Michael was born on Jan 29, 1957, to William Greaney and Mary Anne Greaney in Dayton, Ohio. He graduated from Middleton High School in 1975 and went on to study machining at Madison Area Technical College. After graduation, Michael landed his first job as a tool and die maker for Plastic Ingenuity, kicking off a 47-year career with the company.  Michael’s favorite activity was refereeing high school football.  The pinnacle of his achievement in this area was officiating a state competition.   In 1980, Michael met Sheila, and they wed in 1982, going on to have two children, Kyle and Meghan. After retiring in 2023, Mike spent much of his time walking, hunting, spending time with his friends and family, and participating in Lion’s Club and SAL activities.   Mike was preceded in death by his parents, William Greaney and Mary Anne Greaney. He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Greaney; children, Kyle and Meghan; brother, Robert Greaney; and sister, Betsy Norman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes St., Cross Plains, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2024. A visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Thursday.
