Jean A. Michels Jean A. Michels, age 94 of Spring Green/Waunakee, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Waunakee Valley, Waunakee.  She was born on July 18, 1929, in Portage, the daughter of Eugene and Esther (Gerstenkorn) McMahon.  Jean was married on January 15, 1955, to Edward J. Michels and was a long time member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green. She worked at River Valley High School, Bank of Spring Green, University of Wisconsin Biochemistry and, after retiring, worked at Lands’ End. Survivors include her five children, Thomas (Jeanne), Patricia, Julie (Jim) Meixelsperger, Timothy (Terri) and Robert; grandchildren Cassandra, Alyssa, Jared (Ashley), Ryan, Kayla (Zachary) and Aaron; step-grandchildren Brian (Denise), Christopher, Breanna (Daniel) and Jayme (Paige); six great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren’; her brother Robert; nieces, nephews’, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Esther McMahon; her husband, Edward J. Michels; her sister Ruth; Eddy’s parents and his siblings; granddaughters Kristin and Kimberly; as well as nieces and nephews. Per Jean’s wishes, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green at a later date. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Thank you to everyone at Brighton Hospice who helped in any way to take care of Mom. Especially Alison, Abbey, Grace, Tara, Rene’ and Maureen and Josie. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jean’s name may be made to Brighton Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
