Phyllis Arlene Mickelson Phyllis Arlene Mickelson, age 93 of Arena, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at her residence. She was born on June 22, 1930, in Gays Mills, the daughter of Albert and Estella (Gibbs) Miller. Phyllis was married on May 19, 1962, to Norman Milo Mickelson. Phyllis retired from Sentry foods on Mineral Point Road in Madison and was a member of the local meat cutters union during her time of employment. She loved spending time at their home on the Mississippi River telling jokes with family and friends, she loved watching the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and the Milwaukee Brewers. Her favorite daily pastime was watching gameshow network and working on crossword puzzles. Phyllis would often say that she was a lucky, lucky lady because Norman’s aunts, uncles and cousins all accepted her with open arms into their family. She was a breast cancer survivor who was well known for her “boobie song.” Every Veterans Day she would call friends and family members and thank them for their service. Her family was very important to her, always making sure everyone was taken care of. Her positive attitude could change a bad day into a good day. She was the glue that stuck us together. Survivors include her daughters, LuAnn (Rick) Gallagher, Connie (John) Noble; four grandchildren, Tony (Tina) Gallagher, Mitch (April) Gallagher, Lisa (Luis) Ocampo, Katie (Jeremy) Nachreiner; nine great-grandchildren, Nateleigh, Gunnar, Leigh Anna, Landon, Michaela, Blair, Alexandra, Keegan, Isabella, Easton, Addy; sister-in-law, Jeanette (Mickelson) Luther; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Estella Miller; her husband, Norman Mickelson; brothers, Donald and Merlin Miller; a sister, Agatha Hanson; father in-law, Milo Mickelson; mother in-law, Maxine Mickelson; brothers-in-laws, Jimmy and Dean Mickelson. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 11 to 1 p.m. at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home.
