Obituary: Sybil G. Thompson

Sybil G. Thompson, age 90, of Reedsburg, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center. She was born on May 24, 1933, in Snohomish, WA, the daughter of William and Ada (Brooks) Crowley. She graduated from High School in Everett, WA. Sybil furthered her education as a CNA, an LPN and EMT.

On July 19, 1968, Sybil was united in marriage to James W. Thompson in Edmonds, WA. Sybil and James enjoyed 55 years together traveling through all the National Parks, trips overseas and several cruises. Sybil was a lively character who enjoyed shopping and cherished spending time with her many friends. She was employed at the Sauk County Health Care Center, rural Reedsburg, the Reedsburg Hospital and Baraboo Birth Center. Sybil was also an EMT with the Reedsburg Ambulance Service for 16 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Reedsburg.

Sybil was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Keri Ellett; sons-in-law, Mike Carter and Trail Wyman; sister, Sylvia Crowley.

She is survived by her husband, James; children, Kirbi (Robert) Hintz of TX, Jill Carter of AZ, Kathy Johnson (Charlie Huffstutler) of Reedsburg, Patti Wyman of Wonewoc, Douglas Thompson of Wonewoc; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Sybil’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Fusch Center in Reedsburg. A memorial gathering will begin at 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Appetizers will be served. Burial will follow the service in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Hillsboro. In lieu of flowers, please send all memorials to the Reedsburg Area Medical Center Foundation.
