Wisconsin Heights sets, discusses, enrollment caps

The Wisconsin Heights school board at their January 22 meeting discussed and decided on enrollment caps, in particular their 4K cap where no spaces are available for open enrollment. There are no other caps in place for the remaining grade levels. Interim District Administrator Craig Gerlach described how people in neighboring districts will open enroll only for 4K, then leave when their child ages out. “We spent a lot of time on this,” said Gerlach. “We don’t want to close doors.” The district is readying their effort to inform the public about the upcoming operating referendum. There will be in-person community sessions hosted by Gerlach to discuss and answer any questions. There will also be a zoom session in February. The in-person community session is Thursday, March 7, at 6 p.m., in the Step Room. The Zoom session is February 25, at 6 p.m. The district has created a flyer explaining the referendum and the need.
