Eleanor Irene “Penny” (Stoltz) Zajicek

Eleanor Irene “Penny” (Stoltz) Zajicek, age 95, passed away on January 7, 2024, at Maplewood Nursing home in Sauk City, WI.  Penny was born on July 16, 1928, in Richland County, WI, the daughter of Carl J. and Helen M. (Grover) Stoltz.  She attended Ithaca High School and on September 24, 1946 was married to Galen A. Zajicek.  Penny and Galen farmed near Bosstown and Ash Creek before purchasing a farm in Bear Valley, Wisconsin.  Penny enjoyed gardening and canning and worked at Badger Ordinance. She spent many years devoted to caring for her husband, Galen, after he was disabled due to an accident. Penny is survived by her sister Patricia Rinard; her sons Michael (Julie) Zajicek, James Zajicek, Frank (Vernelle) Zajicek and daughters Sharon Hinze and Helen Ballweg; grandchildren Michael (Jennifer) Zajicek, David (Theresa) Zajicek, Laura (Kevin) Zajicek-Bagenski, Tara (Curtis) Jayroe, Jessica Zajicek, Sara (Dan) Pulvermacher and Trevor (Abigail) Tennant; 10 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Connie Stoltz; and numerous nieces and nephews.   Penny was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Galen; sister Beverly “Betty” Marklein; brothers Norman “Porky” Stoltz and Lawrence “Bud” Stoltz; grandson Robbie Harms; brothers and sisters-in-law Paul and Marlys Zajicek, Ken and Sue Schmitz, Bert and Renora Bremmer; Jim and Marie Zajicek; sister-in-law Eileen Angle, and brother-in-law Bud Rinard.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Loreto.  Visitation was held on Friday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of Mass.  Burial was held at the Sextonville Cemetery on Friday at 1:45 P.M.  Online condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com.  The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
