Cecille Sanders Graffi
Cecille Sanders Graffi (Ceel, or Pinkie, to those who knew and loved her) died quietly in her sleep in Spring Green, just before midnight on December 15, 2023, a week after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia – she was 93. Cecille spent her long, full life in six states – California, Illinois, Ohio, Oregon, Montana, and for her final two years, in Spring Green, near the home of her youngest son, David, and his family. Her three children were near at hand during her final hours. Special thanks go out to the staff at Greenway Terrace for their consistent kindness and care during her final years, and to the staff of Meadows Assisted Living in Spring Green and Agrace Hospice and Supportive Care, who helped bring gentle dignity and grace to her final days. Cecille is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Lucille Mershon; her sister, Nadine; and all four of her husbands. She is survived by her sister, Suzanne Popel; her niece Kristin Ciaramitaro (Paul); and her nephew, Steve Noble (Sharon). She is also survived by her three children – her son, Andy Saperstein (Kathryn), her daughter, Tina Conrad, and her son, David Saperstein (Susan Lee). She leaves seven grandchildren – Andy’s four children, Claire Roosien (Mark), Emma Augat (Scott), Maggie Saperstein (Ben), and Joseph Saperstein; Tina’s two children, Nathan and Thea Reising; and David’s two children, Lily and Eli Saperstein; along with seven great grandchildren – Aaliyah Artry, Isis Artry, and Amari Wilson; Iva, Danny, and Isaac Roosien; and Stephanie JoAnn (Stevie Jo) Saperstein. All who knew Cecille will deeply miss her radiance, beauty, and clarity – we now entrust her to the radiance and beauty of the God she loved, and who now enfolds and embraces her in his love.
