Obituary: Phyllis M. Sailing
Phyllis M. Sailing, age 88, of LaValle passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the Sauk County Health Care Center. She was born on July 26, 1935, in Merrimac, WI, the daughter of Carl and Iva (Winkleman) Schultz. She was a 1953 graduate of Reedsburg High School. On August 20, 1955, Phyllis was united in marriage to Carl Wollin, and this marriage was blessed with two children Debra and Diana. Carl preceded her in death on September 1, 1987.
Phyllis and Carl owned and operated the Coast to Coast store in Reedsburg. Phyllis was employed with Hankscraft/Gerber for 45 years, retiring in 1998. She was also employed with Lands’ End seasonally for about 10 years, She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association and received the Woman of the Year honor on one occasion.
On June 10, 1989, Phyllis was united in marriage to David G. Sailing. Phyllis was a loyal Brewers fan, an avid reader, and she enjoyed boat rides while watching the sun set over Lake Redstone. She enjoyed dinners out and taking trips throughout the state with her husband, Dave, admiring lighthouses along the way. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Dorothy, Margorie, Merlin and Merton.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, David of La Valle; children, Debra Wollin of Reedsburg, Diana (John) Bolt of Reedsburg, and Bradley (Tami) Sailing of Madison; grandchildren, Derek Bolt (Sara), Cody Bolt, Brett Bolt, Brynn Sailing and Brady Sailing; great grandchildren, Alina, Natallya and Xypher Bolt; twin brother, Phillip Schultz; along with several nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Phyllis Sailing were conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Farber Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Anderson officiating. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation was held on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
