Obituary: Stuart William Lindloff

Stuart William Lindloff, age 67, died on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Reedsburg Area Medical Center in Reedsburg, WI. The youngest of two children, he was born to Richard and Dorothy (Parkhurst) Lindloff on Monday, March 5, 1956.

Stuart was a worker with his hands from the time he was a young boy to a well-loved Papa. He would much rather fix something broken than have it brand new. In his younger days, he spent many days and nights in his family shop restoring classic cars and building woodworking projects. As he grew up and started a family of his own, he blessed his family with special wood keepsakes, from cedar chests, toy chests, tables, and grandfather clocks, just to name a few. He was so very proud to be a Papa, “Being Dad is an honor, being Papa is priceless.”

He spent his working career at Grede Foundry in Reedsburg. He was proud to have been a part of that family for 46 years, and he knew virtually every inch of the plant. He would have been the perfect tour guide!

Stuart was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Dorothy Lindloff.

He is survived by his wife, Susan, and daughters Lauren Downing (Ryan) and Michelle Goss (Matthew). He is further survived by his grandchildren, Byron Downing, Grant Downing, and Grace Goss, as well as his brother Steven (Patricia) Lindloff, mother-in-law Rita Woolever, brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Jill Woolever, and sister-in-law, Terri Dimmer (fiancé Mark Gauf) and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 with a visitation from 9:30-11:00 am at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, WI, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am also at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Dr. Natalyia Uboha and her staff at the UW Carbone Cancer Center, the staff at Agrace Hospice Care, especially Courtney and Leslie, as well as the staff at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center for all the kindness and compassion he received while in their care. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to St. Peter’s Lutheran School, 345 N Pine St., Reedsburg, WI, UW Carbone Cancer Center (!/donation/checkout), and Agrace Foundation, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.

Verse for Remembrance Card

“No better day than today for woodworking!”

“I have enough tools”, said no woodworker ever!

“I run on coffee and sawdust.”

“There is no scrap wood, just pieces not yet used.”

“Measure twice, cut once, then force it to fit.”
