Obituary: Donald Charles Reinfeldt

June 24, 1935 – Oct. 29, 2023

On Sunday, October 29, 2023, Donald Charles Reinfeldt, aged 88, of Madison, peacefully passed away at UW Hospital and Clinics. He was born in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, on June 24, 1935, to Ervin Reinfeldt and Viola (Schneider) Reinfeldt.

Donald graduated from Reedsburg High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He played a significant role in managing Paisan’s and the establishment and operation of Porta Bella, both in the Madison area. Later in life, he served as the manager of the West Side Businessmen’s Club and VFW Post No. 1318, situated off John Nolen Drive.

Don was a passionate sports enthusiast, with a particular love for baseball, football, basketball, and golf. He ardently cheered for the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers, and the Badgers football team. In his earlier years, he relished the outdoors, indulging in hunting and fishing. Additionally, he had a deep passion for crossword puzzles and card games, especially cribbage and euchre, and he was an active member of the Grass Roots Cribbage Club.

Donald is survived by his children: Matthew (Inna) Reinfeldt, Gretchen (Michael Bridge) Goodell-Bridge, and Bridget (Scott) Petrovic; his beloved grandchildren: Maya Reinfeldt, Lora Reinfeldt, Richard Goodell, Madison Goodell, Tyler Reinfeldt, and Divinity Petrovic; his sister, Helen (Paul) Pawlisch, as well as other relatives and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of his life will be held at ROMNEY APARTMENTS COMMUNITY ROOM, 540 W. Olin Ave., Madison, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023. This will be like many of the game feeds that Don organized in his life, a potluck event… please bring a dish to pass.  There is limited visitor parking, so plan on street parking, please!
