ringa, age 84 of Spring Green, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Sauk Prairie Health Care. She was born on May 4, 1939, in Minnesota the daughter of Leo and Effie (Shane) Calkins.  Joan was married on September 12, 1959, to George M. Buringa and owned and operated, with her husband, George’s Auto Body for 54 years.  She was a devoted member of St. John’s Catholic Church, loved to garden and play games of chance at Ho-Chunk. Survivors include her four children, Pam Buringa, Patty (Jerry) Goetsch, Marty (Cheryl) Buringa, Matt (Tara) Buringa; nine grandchildren, Kayla Feiner, Carson (Amber) Feiner, Brandon Goetsch, Kelsey (Bryan) Droese, Dustin DeLap, Tyler (Kenzie) Buringa, Hannah (Ryan) Borne, Emma Buringa, Peter (Christine) Goetsch; 13 great-grandchildren, Grayson and Holland Feiner, Alexis, McKenzie and Raelynn Feiner, Connor and Hannah Goetsch, Braylee and Emersyn Droese, Oliver, Quinten and Wesley Buringa, George DeLap.  She is further survived by brother Don (Marilyn) Calkins and sister- in- law Barb Calkins.  Joan is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Effie Calkins; husband, George M. Buringa; and brother, Bill Calkins.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, October 27, 2023, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green.  Fr. Luke Syse officiated with burial in the church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Spring Green Fire Department, Spring Green Ambulance or Spring Green Food Bank.
