Arlene Nachreiner Arlene Ester Nachreiner, age 99 of Monona, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Arlene (Lee) was born on August 30, 1924, in Plain, the daughter of Ernest and Mary (Molly Ruland) Nachreiner. She grew up in Plain and began working at a young age. She was employed by the Kroger Company and throughout the food industry for a 37-year career. She then embarked on another 25 years of employment with Webcrafters Inc., from which she retired in 2009. Arlene was a strong, loving and beautiful woman. She was Catholic and remained a member of her childhood parish throughout her life, St. Luke’s Catholic Church. She had a love for learning about the history of U.S. presidents and successful people. She pursued this interest by touring historical home sites and presidential libraries. Arlene’s favorite reads included non-fiction books about Presidents, their spouses, or other notable historical figures. Arlene enjoyed going to antique shows, art fairs and home decor shops with the thrill of finding interesting and pretty pieces. Arlene had a great sense of style which was apparent by the way she decorated her home, an apartment which she resided in for over 50 years. Her generous nature came through in the way she showered her loved ones with lavish gifts she collected on her shopping quests.  Arlene is survived by her sister-in-law, Leone Nachreiner; nephew, Tim Nachreiner; nieces, Sheila Nachreiner, Lynn Acker and Kay (Duane Hammersley) Nachreiner; and great-niece, Lela Nachreiner. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Louis and Donald; sister-in-law, Helen Nachreiner; and niece, Stephanie Nachreiner. A special thanks to the staff at Manhattan Hair Designs for many years of excellent hair care. A private family burial will be held at St. Luke’s Cemetery.
