Obituary: Kenneth Ray Moser
Kenneth Ray Moser, known fondly by all as Ken, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2023, in Monroe, WI, after a long, brave battle with dementia. He was born on September 17, 1953, in Manchester, IA, to the late Ray and surviving Ruth Moser. His departure from this world leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, creativity, and selflessness.
Ken was a proud graduate of Viroqua High School. After his education, he found his passion in life as a dairy farmer. He was not just a farmer, but a custodian of the land and a steward of the animals he cared for. His love for farming extended beyond the daily tasks; it was a part of his very soul. He was highly respected in his field and was often called upon to judge cattle at local and regional shows. His keen eye and deep knowledge of dairy farming made him a sought-after judge and mentor.
In addition to farming, Ken had a passion for collecting farming antiques. He found beauty in the old and worn and saw value in preserving the farming history of his community. His collection was a testament to his appreciation for the past and his hope for the future.
Family was the cornerstone of Ken’s life. He is survived by his loving children, Brent (Pam), Tracy (James), and Deric (Erica), who inherited their father’s kindness and love for the land. He is also survived by his siblings, Mike (Sandy), Cary (Joy), Bev (Brian), Stan (Sarah), and Kyle. Ken was a beloved grandfather to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who will remember him for his gentle wisdom and boundless love.
Ken was a man of few words but many actions. He was selfless in his love for his family, always putting their needs before his own. His creativity was evident not only in his collection of antiques but also in the innovative ways he approached farming. He was kind, always ready with a helping hand or a comforting word.
Ken’s life was a testament to the power of love, hard work, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched and in the land he so lovingly cared for. His memory will be cherished and his life celebrated as an example of a life well-lived.
In the words of an old farmer’s saying, Ken didn’t just live in the land, he was a part of it. And though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to be a part of the land he loved so dearly.
