Obituary: Karen K. White

Karen K. White 83 of Mendota, passed away unexpectedly on September 1, 2023 in OSF St. Paul Medical Center with her family by her side. Services will be 11AM on Wednesday, September 6 in First United Methodist Church. Rev. Mary Bohall will officiate, with burial immediately following at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the church from 9AM until the service. Wasmer Funeral Home is privileged to assist the family.

Karen was born January 19, 1940 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin to Ernest and Emma (Mueller) Wolkow. She graduated Webb High School in Reedsburg in 1957. On May 21, 1960, in Reedsburg, she married the love of her life, Garry White. Karen, along with Garry owned and operated Coast to Coast, then True Value Hardware, retiring in 2019. Karen was very active in her church and community. She was a member of Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce, belonged to a Graves-Hume book club, held many positions at First United Methodist Church, and with Garry received the H.D. Hume award for outstanding community service.

Karen will be missed by her two sons: Scott (Marina) White of Acworth, GA, Rick (Tamara Abbey) White of Mendota, grandson Alex G. White, two step grandchildren Jeremy (Ahila Livingston) Creamean, Ashley Jobson, 5 step great grandchildren, and two sisters Connie (David) Rueter of Reedsburg, WI. and Susan Fillhouer of Monroe, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Garry on 4/27/2017. Memorials may be directed to the family. Condolences may be left at wasmerfuneralhome.com.
