Wisconsin Heights hires an interim District Administrator

The Wisconsin Heights School District hired an interim District Administrator to take the place of departing Jordan Sinz at their meeting Monday. The board has been searching for Sinz’s replacement for the past few months. In March, then-board chair Cindy Buethin headed the search for Sinz’s replacement. With the election, Barb Statz became board president and took over heading he search. According to Statz, the board conducted its first round of interviews for a District Administrator on May 16th and 18th with six candidates. On May 22nd, they interviewed three finalists. The board chose the finalist that night and was working through contract negotiations over the next few days. However, in an email to district staff on May 31st, Statz announced there had been a change: “After several hours of interviews, discussion and contract negotiations, our desired candidate chose not to accept the position. While disappointing, the Board is committed to finding someone who is energized to lead and capable of upholding the high expectations we have for our district and its continued progress.” Craig Gerlach was then picked to be the interim district administrator by the board. Look for more information on this breaking story in next week’s Star News. At Monday’s meeting, the board accepted a $6,000 donation from the estate of Mary Alice Lucey. She recently passed away and worked for years within the district with children on their reading. The funds will be dispersed over a period of several years and will be used to expand teachers’ classroom libraries.
