Sauk Prairie School District has award-winning teachers

The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation annually recognizes 100 teachers across Wisconsin who were nominated for their leadership and service in and outside the classroom, their ability to inspire a love of learning and to motivate their students. The Teacher Fellowship awards include an honorarium of $6,000 and will be presented to five Sauk Prairie School District teachers. Award recipients are selected by a statewide committee composed of civic leaders and representatives of education-related associations and the program’s co-sponsors: The Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, regional Cooperative Educational Service Agencies (CESA), the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators, and the Wisconsin Homeschooling Parents Association. Awarded SPSD Staff are: Bridgette Baldwin - Bridges Elementary, 1st Grade Allan Ballweg - Sauk Prairie High School, Career and Technical Education Amy Henning - Sauk Prairie High School, Social Studies Matthew Koscinski - Sauk Prairie High School, Band Heather Slosarek - Sauk Prairie High School, English “We are so proud of these fantastic teachers,” said Superintendent Jeff Wright. “They wonderfully represent our entire team of Sauk Prairie educators.” Pictured, at left, left to right: Bridgette Baldwin, Amy Henning, Matt Koscinski, Heather Slosarek, and Allan Ballweg.   Jenna McCann, at right, in the center of all the students, a Merrimac Community School teacher, was awarded a 2022 LEAF award. The award recognizes individuals that have provided leadership for local school forests. LEAF (the Wisconsin K-12 Forestry Education Program) recognizes individuals that have made significant contributions to school forest programs. McCann was nominated because of her ongoing stewardship of the Merrimac Community School Forest.
