Lowell Robert Grass

Lowell Robert Grass of Sauk City, Wisconsin, age 93, passed away peacefully on March 31st, 2023, at The Pines Assisted Living, Prairie du Sac, WI. He was born August 1st, 1929, the son of the late Joseph and Alice (Welke) Grass. He grew up in Sauk City and was a graduate of Sauk City High School; class of 1947. After High School, Lowell joined the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed in Japan, during the Korean War.
He was united in marriage, to the love of his life, Winifred “Winnie” Westphal on May 10th, 1958, and they raised their two daughters in Sauk City.
During his lifetime, he worked at Badger Ordnance, Rapid Sales Record Company, and Ballweg Chevrolet. He enjoyed flying, fishing, wood carving, traveling, jigsaw puzzles, and keeping up with WI sports teams. He was known for his extensive Daylily garden; featuring over 100 varieties. He was a member of The First United Church of Christ, Sauk City.
He is survived by his daughters, Ronnie Martin (Rich) DeMillo, Deborah Grass Weber, and Sue Grass; grandchildren Bret (Hilary) Weber, Carley (Nick) Young, Helen Richard, and Cara DeMillo (Blake) Grant; great-grandchildren, Colin Fitzpatrick, Duvlyn Weber, Colton Young, Blake Young, and Sofia Grant.
He was preceded in death by his wife Winifred, parents Joseph and Alice, his sister Irene Waffenschmidt, and brother-in-law, Lyman Waffenschmidt.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 17th, at 10 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m., at Hooverson Funeral Home in Sauk City, WI. Burial with Military Honors will be at the Prairie du Sac Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Shelby Mulcahy for her kindness, care, compassion, and friendship she gave Lowell.
