Grand Avenue students learn about maple syrup

Grand Avenue 4th graders went to the Mackenzie Center in Poynette and learned about maple syrup making. The lesson included information on maple trees, how and when to tap the trees. Students tasted the sap right from the tree. The day included learning about maple sugar, Native American maple syrup making, syrup making during Pioneer times, and how maple syrup is produced today. The day had a sweet ending as students sampled fresh maple syrup.
