Gerald “Jerry” Kraemer
Gerald “Jerry” Kraemer, a resident of Attic Angel Place, Middleton and formerly of Plain, passed away on February 16, 2023. He was 102 years old. Born on a farm in Spring Green, Jerry spent most of his adult life in Plain, residing until age 98 in the home that he and his wife Phyllis built in 1958. He was a veteran of World War II, and shortly after his return from military service, he sought employment at Kraemer Brothers, a newly formed construction company in Plain. He worked there as a construction superintendent until his retirement at age 72. He loved his work and the appreciation he received for a job well done. After retirement, he and Phyllis launched a rug making business, selling rag rugs at craft fairs in southern Wisconsin. They enjoyed their family, golf, traveling, and their friends, and were active members of St. Luke’s Parish in Plain. Phyllis passed away in 2006, just one month short of hers and Jerry’s 60th wedding anniversary. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Jerry is survived by his four children, Lynn Mecklenburg (Gary), Madison, Jay Kraemer (Marjean), Madison, Karen Stoklosa (Michael), Janesville, and Craig Kraemer (Mary), Prairie du Sac; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Included in Jerry’s extended family were Elizabeth “Liz” Hamburg, who passed away in 2018, and her children and grandchildren who lovingly embraced him during the 12 years he and Liz spent as companions. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain. Fr. William Nolan will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Online condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com. The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Special thanks to the staff at Attic Angel Place who tended Jerry with professionalism, tenderness, and kindness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Attic Angel Association, 640 Junction Road, Madison, WI 53717 or to the UW-Madison Comprehensive Diabetes Center through the UW Foundation, US Bank Lockbox 78807, Milwaukee, WI 53278.
