Heights conducting “Child Find” activities

The Wisconsin Heights School District will be conducting its annual “Child Find” activities on Monday, February 13th for children between the ages of two and five years old.  In January, the District is sending out screening questionnaires to the parents and guardians of preschoolers whose names were obtained from the school census.  The questionnaire asks about the preschooler’s skills and developmental history.  Upon return of the questionnaire, the District’s Child Find staff will review the information and contact parents if they have any questions or concerns.   In addition, all resident families with children ages two-five are invited to take part in our Child Development Screening Services on February 13th from 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. at the Wisconsin Heights Elementary School by appointment.  If parents are unable to make an appointment for February 13th, other arrangements may be made. Under a federal program called Child Find, school districts are required to offer screenings and evaluations to help identify children who need specialized instruction in motor, social, self-help, communication, or learning skills.  This year, we are encouraging all parents of children ages two-to five-years-old to participate in a screening process as part of our Child Find activities.
