Sauk Prairie Middle School holds after-school coding event

Sauk Prairie School District partnered with Women in Technology (WIT4Girls) to bring an after-school coding event to the Sauk Prairie Middle School on Wednesday, December 7 during Computer Science Week.  Computer Science Education Week is an annual call to action to inspire K-12 students to learn computer science.  We are thrilled that 40 5th-8th grade students attended the coding event. The coding event’s purpose was to help students, especially girls, see how their innovative ideas can lead to limitless opportunities in technology careers.  The event kicked off with local female presenters within the Information Technology field, to share their personal stories about coding, information technology and their careers.  The students then had hands-on experience to explore and develop program knowledge using an Adafruit circuit board (an electronic circuit board used to program).  It was a simple and fun way to introduce the students to how the technology around us works.
