Obituary: Mervin K. Jaech
Mervin K. Jaech, age 88, of Reedsburg, died on Monday, January 10, 2022, in his home. He was born on 11/22/33 in LaValle, the son of Fred and Louise (Harms) Jaech. Merv was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. On August 4, 1956, he was married to the former Jeanette “Jeanie” Westedt. Merv worked at Kleeber Motors, Wisconsin Dairies and Aid Association for Lutherans. He and Jeanie later owned and operated M & J Auto Parts-Reedsburg, Hillsboro & Richland Center, Big Store Plaza - Antique Mall and Ice Cream Parlor as well as Downtown Fitness. Following his retirement, he worked for Walmart in Lake Delton. Merv was a founding member of the Reedsburg Jaycees, a member of the Reedsburg Fire Department and was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his three children: Patty Antonczyk (friend Bob), of Waukesha and her children: Matthew and Rachel; Bruce (Julie) Jaech, of Reedsburg and their daughters: Sarah (Matt) Lennon and Larissa (fiancé Aaron St. Louis) and Cindy (Robert) Dries, of Reedsburg, and their daughter Emma; his sister: Betty Webb, of Waukesha; three sisters-in-law: Phyllis Christian, of Richland Center, Inez Westedt, of Hillpoint, and Helen Slotty of Sauk City; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanie on May 25, 2015; three brothers: Norman, Fred and Gordon; sister: Caroline Lohr, and sister-in-law: Rose (Treptow) Jaech.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Paul Crolius officiating. Following the service, military honors will be provided by the Reedsburg Area Veterans Honor Guard at the church. Interment will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery in LaValle. There will be a visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Hoof Funeral Home and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or School would be appreciated.
