Richard L. “Dick” Uttech

Richard L. “Dick” Uttech, 81, passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2021. Dick was born to the late Clarence and Lorraine (nee Schellenberg) Uttech on April 25, 1940, in Fulda, Minnesota. Dick was married to the love of his life, Shirley (nee Lehman) for more than 57 years, and they raised two children, Scott and Michael. He served his country as a US Navy Corpsman, and after leaving the service, continued to work in the healthcare industry as an X-Ray and Lab Technician. Dick was known as a kind and giving person who would drop whatever he was doing to help someone in need. He was an exceptionally gifted woodworker and crafted beautiful clocks for each of his nieces and nephews as wedding gifts. He was an avid motorcyclist and for many years, completed a motorcycle ride each July to help raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He also enjoyed camping and the outdoors, and he was especially fond of going to the casino with his son, Scott. Dick and Shirley were active members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, for many years. Cherishing Dick’s memory are his beloved wife, Shirley; his son, Michael (Teri) Uttech; his brother, John (Paulette) Uttech; and his grandsons, Alec and Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Scott; and his sister, Sharon Klaviter.  A Celebration of Dick’s Life will be held at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 N. Broadway St, Medina, OH, on Friday, October 1, 2021, at 11:00 am, with visitation beginning at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Dick’s name be made to St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medina or St. John’s Lutheran Church, 100 Oak Street #1548, Prairie du Sac, WI, 53578.
