Program offers parenting advice for fathers

The UW Extension is starting a program to help dads connect with their kids.

Focus on Fathers will feature online sessions that focus on parenting and ways to forge a stronger relationship with children. It will also be an opportunity to connect with other dads.

Topics will include relaxing and enjoying time with children, helping kids stand up for themselves, helping kids build confidence and helping children deal with others.

The sessions will be led by Amanda Coorough, and each one is free. Coorough has been working with colleagues on a statewide needs assessment of fathers, and this program is part of her process.

They will be held Tuesdays via Zoom from 8 to 9 p.m. Aug. 3, 10, 17 and 24. Sessions are geared for those with children from birth through 12, but any dads and father figures are welcome to attend.
