Jackolyn “Jackie” A. Holmquist, 77, of Watertown, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 after a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 28, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown, with Father Michael Johnson officiating. Family and friends may gather at Hafemeister Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Jackolyn “Jackie” Ann Harry was born March 1, 1944, in Fergus Falls, MN, daughter of Vernon and Enid (nee McDonough) Harry. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School, MN, in 1962. Jackie married Louis “Louie” Holmquist on August 8, 1970, in Detroit Lakes, MN. She worked at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital for over 20 years, and later worked at First Weber Realty in Lodi. After retirement, she volunteered at the Watertown Public Library.
Jackie was involved for many years with Project Self-Help and Awareness. She was an avid reader, mostly historical fiction and fiction. She enjoyed travelling, gardening, and spending time with her beloved dog, Riley, who passed away last year. Jackie loved being near the water, especially on Lake Melissa during her youth in Minnesota, and Lake Wisconsin when she lived in Lodi and Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin. Most of all, Jackie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family, supporting her children and grandchildren in their activities.
Jackie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Louie Holmquist of Watertown; children, Casey (Terese) Holmquist of Avon, CO; Melissa (Michael) DeNomie of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Louis and Margot Denomie; and Allen Britten of Middleton, WI, whom she loved like a son. She is also survived by her sister, Jerrilyn (Howard) Gilles of Eden Prairie, MN; four nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jean Gulland.
