Duaine J. Peterson Duaine J. Peterson, age 75, of Plain, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 19, 2021, at the Sauk Prairie Hospital. He was born on May 11, 1945, in Baraboo, the son of Kenneth Vernon and Helen Malania (Lamberty) Peterson. Duaine was married on December 2, 1985, to Debra (Soppeland) Peterson. Combining two families, he gained one more son and two daughters. Duaine served in the Army Reserve as a mechanic in his early years. He also took great pride in his 52-year membership with the Operating Engineers Union Local 139 and was honored with a picture and a plaque two years ago. Duaine enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing, where he shared “his” expertise with those in his company. His boys often questioned his tactics which always led to stories long after the hunt was over. Weekly card games at the local establishments were another reason to gather with friends and were not to be missed. Gardening and sharing his harvest brought him joy and was another reason to visit. It was rare to see Duaine traveling without his dog companions in the passenger seat. He loved the time he spent with all his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Debra; children, Jamie (Nicole) Peterson, Darrin (Deserie) Peterson, Chad (Amanda) Peterson, Daniel (Melissa) Burgess, Rebecca Topp, Rachel (Brent) Santos; grandchildren, Dylan, Taylor, Dalton, Danielle (Dyllan) Clary, Skyla, Alexa, Mia, Mason, Ashley (Chris) Blume, Cheyenne, Maranda, Isabelle, David, Adeline; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Charlotte; brothers, Kenneth D. Peterson, Rick Peterson; sisters, Linda Ruhland, Nancy Wilkinson; step-brothers, step-sisters, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Nola Peterson; brother, Randall Peterson; brothers-in-law, Reginald Ruhland and Delbert Wilkinson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 26, 2021, at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home. Rev. Craig Peach will officiate with burial in the Arena Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Ewing-Olson VFW Post #9336. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 25, 2021, at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
