Sauk Prairie School Board candidate pulls out of race

Deb Moses, candidate for the Sauk Prairie School District board, has decided to remove herself from the race. Moses will still be on the ballot, but wants the public to know she is no longer seeking the position. She said, “I realized it is not the right time to pursue this while also growing my small business, [Cliffbrake Farm].” Moses had a message, though. “I want to encourage other women to run in future school board races. We need you!” “In the Sauk Prairie School District, women represent over 75% of the teachers and staff, [roughly] 50% of our community, and only one of our seven school board members. This pattern is similar for the Baraboo, Reedsburg, and Wisconsin Dells districts.” She continued, “The men on our boards are wonderful, caring people, but they will never fully understand what it is like to be a mother and woman. We need more women’s voices guiding our public schools.” Local government has some women representation. Prairie du Sac has three women on the board, Sauk City has two. The Wisconsin Heights School Board has three woman members. Mazomanie has one, and Black Earth one woman board member. Finally, the village administrators for Sauk City and Black Earth are women.
