January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month

Wisconsin law enforcement is using this month as a reason to educate the public about human trafficking.

This crime can happen in any community and victims can be any age, race, gender or nationality. Victims are forced into sex work against their will.

State Patrol officers are training with the Wisconsin Department of Justice to learn how to identify potential human trafficking. Stat Patrol Academy cadets are also learning about this crime.

 Anyone who suspects foul play should contact law enforcement so they can investigate; do not confront the suspect. Traffickers can be dangerous to not only their victims but also the public.
