Kody Allen Phillips Kody Allen Phillips, age 28, currently of Plain, came into this world in a hurry at nine-and-a-half weeks early, along with his twin brother, Karson. He left the world the same way, too soon and too fast from a car accident on December 22, 2020. Kody was the epitome of a big brother, holding his four-minute head start over Karson’s head. His teachers always remarked how polite, well-spoken and sweet he was. They didn’t mention argumentative and talked too much, but we already knew that about him. Kody was a delightful child. He loved to antagonize his brother, and years later, his sister. He had a great time playing barbies with her, but he had a habit of making the dolls swear. He used big words, spouted tidbits of useless information to anyone who would listen and loved to introduce his mom to new music and books. He spent many hours outside with his stepdad, slaying monsters with lightsabers and building Lego cities. His love of fishing came from his dad, but his smart-alecky ways were all from his mom. Kody’s sense of humor was vast. He told Dad jokes before he even became a Dad. Just because he could. Kody graduated from River Valley High School in 2011 and immediately went into the workforce. He really excelled in customer service positions, most recently at Pre-Played in Madison. On October 31, 2018, Kody married his longtime soulmate, Courtney Johnson, and they found out the next day that they would be adding a third member to their family. For the last 18 months, Kody has been the best Dad any little girl could ask for. He was so proud of his sweet family. Kody is survived by his wife, Courtney; daughter, Miryn Mae; parents, Joni Johnson-Kropp and Kraig Kropp, Kurt and Nancy Phillips; his twin brother, Karson (Elizabeth Wood) Phillips; and favorite sister, Kennedy Kropp. Kody also leaves behind his brothers from another mother, Timmy, Trevor and Kane, his parent-in-laws, Roger and Candi Johnson; and step-grandparents, David and Nancy Kropp. Kody is further survived by aunts and uncles: Julia (Jake Marx) Johnson, Jackie (Joel) Johnson-Kruse, Janna (Mark Fuchs) Johnson, Kim (Joe) Peterson, Kevin Phillips, Kent Phillips, Kelly Phillips, Keith Phillips, Albert (Tracy) Havlik, David (Melissa) Kropp, and Hillary (Tyson) Covington; sisters-in-law Susan Johnson, Brandy Johnson, Krystle George and, brother-in-law Brian Johnson. Kody grew up surrounded by so many amazing cousins that were his first friends: Brock, Riley, Katie, Quintin, Jacob, Sawyer, Parker, McKenzie, Adrien, Lydia, Stephenie, Mikkayla, Kole, Kourtnie, Kaidon, Mitchell and Tyler. Kody was preceded in death by his grandparents that helped raise him, Jerry and Cathy Johnson, his aunt Kim Cowley, grandparents Don and Janice Phillips, uncle Kenneth and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green. A private service will be held at the Christ Lutheran Church at 7 p.m. immediately following visitation. The funeral service will be live streamed through Christ Lutheran Church.
