Alice in Dairyland promotes Wisconsin-produced gifts
A Wisconsin figure is encouraging residents to add Wisconsin-grown and produced gifts to their shopping list this year.
Julia Nunes is promoting the Something Special from Wisconsin program, which showcases goods grown or made in the state. The logo can be found on items that contain at least 50 percent of ingredients from the Badger State.
Nunes said that the logo can be found on meat, cheese, syrups, candy, soap, candles, lotions, wreaths and other items.
“Purchasing local Wisconsin goods is an easy way to make your holidays uniquely Wisconsin,” she said in a statement. “The Something Special from Wisconsin logo lets you know that your money is staying here in the state to support our farmers, communities and local economies.”
Program Director Lois Federman said it’s never been more important to support Wisconsin producers.
“Each dollar spent is not only an investment in our state's economy, but in its future,” she said.
Something Special from Wisconsin was created in 1983, and is operated through the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.
Alice in Dairyland is Wisconsin’s agriculture ambassador. She works to educate the public and media about the importance of agriculture to the state’s economy and way of life.
