Obituary: Michael ‘Mikey” Paul Bill

Michael “Mikey” Paul Bill, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 31, 2020 surrounded by many loved ones a few days shy of his 60 th birthday. He was born November 4, 1960 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin to his parents Alban A. Bill and Irene D. Bill (Sobota).

Mikey had a pure and genuine love of life. This love came through in the little things that we all take for granted, or in some cases find annoying, yet Mikey always rejoiced in. Some examples include sunshine, snow, rain, a favorite song on the radio, dancing, coloring books with a new box of crayons,a favorite food like blue cake, decorations around his home, or even a new blanket. “Wow” and “I like you” was heard quite frequently from Mike when he discovered these little treasures that others might have overlooked but meant the world to Mikey.

Patience, acceptance, love, respect, perseverance, determination, pride in accomplishments, politeness, appreciation and joy were traits modeled by Mikey daily. Through his example, Mikey was unknowingly teaching these same behaviors to all that were fortunate to have known him.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents Alban & Irene Bill and three brothers, James A. Bill, Richard A. Bill, and Thomas J. Bill. Mikey is survived by his sister Betty Ann Bill, his brother and guardian Alban “Chub” Bill, and sisters-in-law Sue Bill, Claudia Bill, Lynn Bill and Ann Bill. Mike is survived as well, by fourteen nieces and nephews, their spouses, and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

During his 60 years of life, Mikey had several loving close friends and caregivers. Mike’s brother Al “Chub” Bill had the privilege of being Mike’s guardian for over half his life. Chub and his family (Sue, Nicole and Amy) found it an honor to have Mikey so close and will never forget all the joy Mikey provided through endless parties (everything was a party to Mikey), holidays, trips to the “Big” house in Minneapolis, swimming, bowling and simply being together.

Over the last 10 years, Mikey was blessed with the best caregivers and friends that anyone could ask for. Jack and Brenda Christensen and Lance Bennett opened their home and hearts to Michael and loved him unconditionally. As is said of all good souls, “if someone says they never knew Michael Paul Bill, they probably never met him”.
