Harold Raymond Janechek

Harold Raymond Janechek, passed into Paradise on August 22, 2020 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI, with his beloved wife Diane by his side. Harold was born on January 10, 1945 in Reedsburg, WI, to Harry and Dorotha (Burgess) Janechek. Harold and Diane (Gates) Janechek were married on a crisp cold day on February 19, 1966, 54 years ago. It was a joyous day.

Harold graduated from Wonewoc High School where he was active in sports. He went right into the Army National Guard, and then attended UW-Richland Center. Harold served his country in the National Guard for six years. He was very patriotic like his dad, and loved to read the Constitution.

Harold was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for some 40 years, and served as treasurer for 36 years. He also served on the Pastor search and building committees, and taught youth groups. He loved his church family. Harold was baptized by immersion by his special friends Calvin Meeks, Jim Seamans and Spencer “Bucky” Sainsbury.

They lifted Harold from his wheelchair into the baptismal water.

Regardless of his disability, he was very active. He had three businesses in Reedsburg,

Harold’s Auto Supply, Cheese and Ice Cream Shop, and Reedsburg’s famous Popcorn Stand. Also Harold worked for Sauk County where he had 30 court-appointed guardianships and took care of their needs and estates. He also belonged to Good Sam’s Camping Club serving as treasurer, and did fundraising for organizations such as Special Olympics and Veterans.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; mother and father-in-law, aunts, uncles, his cousin Dale, and his furry friend Max.

Harold is survived by his wife, Diane; sons Michael (Anita) and Daniel (Penny) Janechek; his precious grandchildren Kristen (Richard) of San Antonio, TX, and Taylor and Seth Janechek of LaValle; step-grandchild Lucian of Reedsburg; sister Gloria Janechek of Reedsburg; Aunt Arlene of Mauston; cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services for Harold will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Trinity Baptist Church in Reedsburg with Rev. Michael Lopp and Pastor Ben Seamans officiating. Burial will be held in Resting Green Cemetery in Ironton. Visitation will be on Monday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.

The family would like to thank SSM and especially nurse Marilyn for the loving care they provided Harold.
