Ervin R. Cole

Ervin R. Cole, 87, of Reedsburg, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020, at the Reedsburg Senior Life Center.

Ervin was born July 25, 1933 in Wisconsin Dells to the late Alfred and Mildred Cole. Mildred died during child birth to his sister Mabel when he was 2 years old. When Ervin was eleven, Alfred married Bessie Cole.

Ervin worked at Hankscraft and in 1954 he met Beverly LeBansky and they got married May 7, 1955. In December of 1955 he was called up to serve in the U.S. Army for two years.

Together they had three children; David, Terry and Michael. David was born while Ervin was in the Army and only lived 19 hours. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

Ervin was diagnosed with M.S. in 1995, but he always made the best of every opportunity. His family was very important to him and will always be admired and loved for the positive attitude and the courage he showed. He worked for many years and always loved his different jobs, especially driving truck for Merle-Groener. Following his diagnosis, he and Beverly spent seven winters in Mission, TX. Ervin’s job there was being the “Welcoming Guy”. As new campers came in, he would hop on his scooter and guide them to their lots. They met many new friends, and just as many old ones came to visit. Together they enjoyed watching Country Jams Gospel Music.

In addition to his wife Beverly of sixty five years, Ervin is survived by his children; Terry (Judy) Cole, and Michael Cole, his five grandchildren; Robert, David, Paul, Laura and Ashley, his ten great-grandchildren; Judy M., Brianna, Hunter, Lucian, Lilly, Tristen, Seth, Keileigh, Heidi and Forrest, and his two great-great grandchildren Sophia and Gracie. He is further survived by his sisters in law Shirley LeBansky and Jeanne (Gene) Hynek, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son David, a great grandson Keagen, and his sisters Nora and Mabel.

Visitation was also on Wednesday, at the church, from 9:30 am until the time of service.
